A STUDY IN HYBRIDS, RITUALS AND ENTROPY

I made a fine art project in a studio course called “Wild Hybrids”. In a prompt called, “Drawing Out Rituals” I took opportunities to engage in the close observation of a particular subject of inquiry. This project has also provided an opportunity to respond using my fine arts background. I learned how to diligently document a ritual, and I also learned how to propose a speculative moment. I acquired the skills of scanning artwork and post-production editing using the Adobe Creative Suite.

I tapped this egg twice on a piece of felt in order to achieve the resulting cracked pattern.

Project 2: Drawing Out Rituals

I investigated the ritual of cracking an egg. Using sixteen different egg-cracking conditions, I made a series of drawings tracing the uniqueness of each crack.
